MACHINES
Sometimes people remind
me of machines.
They go about calling
facts of the task at hand
to mind in bleak
mindless discourse.
We condone convention
to panegyric oaths
mouthed in boredom
by shameless shamans.
"Thanks for a job jolly
well done," becomes our epitaph,
and the joke of history
is, "I think
therefore,
I . . . huh?"
