Approx 18 X 24 inches, acrylic on Bristol
This is an old self-portrait that I did several years back. It was done shortly after I began to learn how to use the airbrush and although I was never satisfied with how I depicted myself, it's still a fair representation.
For some reason I painted myself fairly pale and I suspect it's always because I'm pretty self-critical and can never depict myself accurately. I was sitting on a porch wall at my grandmother's house before she passed away.

Your portrait here is EXACTLY you, if you ask me.
You were still new at the tools and I can't say this
is bad at all.
You certainly do not look mal-fed or drug addicted.
You gave your skin LOVELY harmonious tone
and the shadows don't over ride or disturb the flow.
You had me thinking I was going to see a portrait of
something that looked like a kindergarten tribute
to Alice Cooper.
This is a beautiful self portrait and the biggest bang of it is that - in MY eyes,
I'd know it was you without any hints or nudges.
