Artist's Comments

16 inches X 20 inches, oil on canvas.

I recently broke out my oil paints after talking with my friend

:iconjudgeofdeath:

about using oil paints.

I love the creaminess of oil paints and decided to do a more expressive painting.

This is The Somnambulist and is my version of those people who live out their entire lives mentally fast asleep. They are mired in routines from which there is no escape. They are uncomfortable with anything out of the ordinary and any change makes them incredibly uncomfortable. They are dying from the inside and any parallels you care to draw to them and zombies are valid (except the eating brains part, they'll have a Big Mac instead).

Don't let boredom, apathy or physical age stifle your awareness or wonder of the world. Every day you live is a gift, don't set it on the shelf to gather dust. Think, wonder, smile, smell, laugh and love.

That's a very one-sided view you have there. Beautiful picture though, it's very capturing.

Thank you for your kind comment. How do you think my viewpoint is one-sided?

Well rather the comment than the deviation itself.
:icondecarabia69:
I thought you were talking about the comment. :) But why do you think my comment is one-sided?

Heh, at work one of my friends and I like to quote," We resist Change", whenever we are asked to do something new. I like to try new things but I do like a safety net also. I never go anywhere without looking for my escape route first, mentally or physically.

Love the work, great texture and the bones are nicely done too.

All I can say is ShamWOW!!

Awesome!

And turn off that TV while you are at it...not you...the zombies...

I am often afraid. But I am never a coward.

Wonderfully quoteworthy. :highfive: Nice job =)

Thanks, and I agree. I've been sticking to my "at least a book a week" promise since the new year. :)

Thanks, Kip and although I'm open to most new things, I ALWAYS plan an escape route and make sure I have a safety net. :)

Thank you and it's a philosophy I've come to hold dear. :)
